Hi everyone!

In 2019, HHPLIFT launched its career development program: a candle and soap line made by people overcoming barriers to employment. It was aptly titled 1eleven®–after the temperature at which soy wax begins to transform from a solid to a liquid state–symbolizing the transformation that program participants underwent while at HHPLIFT.

Fast forward two years, to today, and our Program is so much more than we could have envisioned in 2019, when we started. Not only has our LIFT™ line expanded to include a wider array of bath, spa, and personal care items, as well as Covid-essential goods, production associates are actively involved in our 3rd Party Logistics department where they kit, assemble, fulfill, and ship orders.

LIFT™ Program production associates not only transform their lives, they LIFT their careers. The LIFT™ Program forges economic independence through employment opportunities for people from disinvested and overlooked communities in Chicago. Production associates transform their lives through new skills, leadership training, and career development. Five former program participants are currently working full-time at HHPLIFT, 100% of which have been promoted at least twice and 67% of which save regularly to their 401k.

LIFT™ Program production associates not only transform their lives, they LIFT their community. HHPLIFT’s Be a Hero personal protective equipment (PPE) campaign of producing and donating PPE to hospital Covid units, emergency rooms, EMT units, senior care facilities, and homeless shelters was conceptualized by a former program participant and the line was produced by current production associates in the LIFT™ Workshop.
